Olmert: Only Pro-Uprooting Parties in My Government

Excerpt;

In an attempt to win votes back, Kadima’s prime ministerial candidate, Acting Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, announced last night that any party that refuses to accept the concept of “inward-turning” – the name he has given his plan to carry out further unilateral withdrawals – will not be invited to join the government he expects to form. Olmert thus hopes to play on the desires of Shas and Yisrael Beiteinu voters, and, to a lesser extent, those of the hareidi-religious United Judaism Party (UTJ), to see their parties in the government.

Hareidi UTJ Party Hints: We Will Join Kadima Government

Excerpts;

Golan: “It [the program to withdraw unilaterally from large areas of Judea and Samaria] has been publicized very clearly…”

Ravitz said that only the principles thereof have been publicized, and “the question that we have to weigh is what is the price of living here in the Land of Israel. We have to see the details. All the large plans depend on their little details, and we will have to weigh them.”

Golan: “I understand between the lines that–”

Ravitz: “All the other parties, except for Marzel, are willing to compromise a little -”

For context, we go back in time to 23 March, 2005 and attempts to pass legislation in Knesset for a National Referendum;

Excerpts;

Retreat opponents found a redeemer, at least temporarily, in the ultra-Orthodox party United Torah Judaism (UTJ). The faction, which joined Sharon?s coalition in January, cast the decisive votes on the proposed bill after the party?s spiritual leader, Rabbi Shalom Yosef Eliashiv, approved the measure.

UTJ Knesset Member Rabbi Avraham Ravitz said the referendum question was too important not to be brought to a vote in the Knesset plenum, but he did not promise that he or his faction would support the bill there.

Rabbi: It’s Forbidden to Vote for Kadima

Excerpt;

National Religious Party’s spiritual leader Rabbi Mordechai Eliyahu says supporting Kadima same as assisting sinners; calls on voters to cast ballot for any religious party that did not back disengagement.

Commentary;

There’s been much talk about Agudah/UTJ/Gimmel around the neighborhood over Shabbos with elections then 3 days off. As Agudah is identified by its politicians as the “party of record” of certain Gedolei HaDor and that these same politicians purport to act only with the approval of these certain Gedolim, these words were chosen carefully.

Over Seudah Shlish’t we went back in time to remember events of a year ago when UTJ joined the Sharon Regime coalition, voted for the budget which enabled the expulsion and did not stand in opposition of the expulsion. The possibility was voiced that the politicians of UTJ are flawed in how they ask Sha’ilot of the “Torah Sages”, the Gedolei HaDor, i.e. the question as to whether to accept the funds given them by the government at the same time that Shinui was bought off by the Regime with 600 – 700 Million NIS to stay in the coalition.

We cannot forget how UTJ joined the coalition last year, propping up the Sharon Regime and thus enabling the expulsions from Gush Katif and the Shomron. We cannot forget that on Yom Pakuda, it was indifference and business as usual for the UTJ politicians. We cannot forget that UTJ has remained in the government even in the aftermath of the expulsion, even as the refugees were robbed at legalized gunpoint of the property and possessions, even in the wake of the terrible persecution of the refugee families by the Regime and its Sela, including denial of proper legal restitution to the families under Knesset Law.

That MKs Litzman and Ravitz would consider a repeat performance, joining another government (if Kadima is designated to form the government) dedicated solely to expelling many more times the 9,000 Jews (of Gush Katif and the Shomron) from Jewish land and to premeditated, legalized robbery of more Jewish property and possessions, is all the more reason why Jews who honestly and sincerely care for their fellow Jews as themselves will pass on Gimmel come election day.

In closing, during the Seudah Shlish’t, another point was brought out; the possible connection, the possible understanding of the recent suspension of construction and occupancy in Modiin Illit (formerly Kiryat Sefer) as an onesh, a divine punishment for UTJ’s actions in the days and months leading up to the expulsion and it’s indifference and inaction afterwards.
